We were excited to welcome Jim Rowan – former CEO of Dyson and Volvo Cars to our wonderful office space at thebeyond, Glasgow. A global leader in innovation, strategy, and business transformation, Jim returned to his hometown to meet the next generation of Scottish tech talent.
He toured thebeyond, meeting a range of our amazing tenants and speaking directly with company founders to learn more about what they’re building – from groundbreaking hardware to AI driven software shaping the future. His curiosity and encouragement meant a lot to the teams here at thebeyond, many of whom are just beginning their startup journey.
He also heard pitches from STAC Invest portfolio companies including: Seluna Ltd, Silver Lion Innovations, Smplicare, Northern Light Microscopy and Quantcore. Furthermore, hearing from University of Glasgow & University of Strathclyde spinouts offering valuable insights and reflections drawn from decades of scaling global businesses.
Jim also took the time to record an episode of the Human First podcast by Murphy Wealth in our very own studio at thebeyond! We hold a wide range of audio and video recording equipment in this space available to our tenants.
Having Jim take the time to engage with startup founders in thebeyond was a real privilege and a powerful reminder of the talent that’s building world-class companies right here in Scotland. He rounded off his visit with a Q&A session for the STAC cohort and wider network at our events space, where he answered questions on company-building, leadership, and what it really takes to grow on a global scale.
We’re proud of the innovation coming out of Scotland, nurtured in thebeyond – and are very excited about the global impact these companies are about to make.
